The Public Accountants and Auditors Act (2013) mandates the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (ICAM) to administer the Initial Professional Development (IPD) to aspiring accountants. In fulfilling this mandate, the Institute has sought assistance from different organisations, both public and private to find employment and internship opportunities for its students. The scheme is targeting students who are either not employed or are employed in a non-accounting field.

ICAM is inviting applications from those interested to do internships at the Accountant General’s department. The Accountant General’s Department manages all accountants working in government throughout the country. Remuneration of the interns will be determined by the Department.

Students who would like to be considered for the scheme should submit their applications which should contain the following information:

  • Educational qualifications
  • Contact details (phone number, email address, postal address)
  • Preferred location (district)
  • Date of birth/age
  • Gender

Interested individuals should forward their applications to:

  1. This honestly is a very welcome development, this is what we never saw coming but it has now given us more energy to cling to ICAM for we know that this is just the beginning, there is more to come, may the management feel that it has given the students the reason to work even harder
